I just did a successful run outside! But first…
On Wednesday I did a killer treadmill session… 50 minutes at 16.1km/hr followed by 10 minutes at 15.1km/hr. Next time I will have to try and keep the 16.1 up for the full hour. Nevertheless, it was definitely my most intense treadmill session yet (confirmed by the headache I was left with for the rest of the day!).
Thursday wasn’t so good. I couldn’t bring myself to go for another roast / run outside so I went back to the gym. I planned to run for about 30 minutes and then do some weights. But five minutes into the run I decided to mess with that innocuous “incline” button. I cranked it up to 15 degrees at 15km/hr and was dead after about one minute! I had to rest. I gingerly got back on and slid it down to 5 degrees. I managed to go on for another 5 minutes or so before I realized I would fly off the back of the treadmill if I tried to keep going. With my confidence shattered, I decided to call it a rest day and just do some weights. Next time I will work the incline button into my routine gradually… or perhaps I’ll never touch it again.
This morning I went scuba diving so I did my run in the evening instead. I couldn’t face the treadmill so I decided to give the beach another shot. I went bare foot again but this time I slowed down the pace so that I could be more careful about where I placed my feet. I managed 8 up and downs of the beach which took around 45 minutes. At the end the bottom of my big toes were raw but at least I felt like I had done a good workout.
