On Tuesday I was good and used the bike instead of going for a run… hopefully that would give my blisters a chance to finally heal. I did an hour on random resistance mode and went about 28km.
On Wednesday, I felt like doing a good run. It was pouring outside so I jumped on the treadmill for an hour at speed 15km/hr. I had a good podcast on and the 60 mins flew by. At the time my blisters felt ok, but when I finished I realized that they had ballooned up!
If I am going to get through the Hastings Half Marathon this weekend, I am definitely going to have to stay off running completely in the mean time. I think I’ll start using the dreaded Concept 2 Rower as that is non-impact and so painful that it sure to do me good.
It is annoying because the only reason I have these blisters is because I wore stupid socks during the T. Wells Half Marathon (almost 2 weeks ago). They would normally have healed by now but because I keep running, they never get the chance. I have learnt my lesson… never wear bad socks again, even if it is just a one-off.

Hey there mate, good blog you’ve got going. When I was plagued with blisters I tried everything (blister plasters etc - compeed definitely the best if the blister’s already formed and needs decent protection), but the thing that really helped was wearing two pairs of socks to run in - an inner thin sock and outer sports sock. I’m sure you’re probably already doing it, but if not, definitely try… just make sure you don’t leave any crinkles!
Best of luck, Andrew Buckley
