I am going to take this marathon seriously! I am going to train hard and I want to get a good time. I think I need a target time!
I recently did a 10km race in 40mins without much training at all. If I were to run that pace for 40km then I would get a time of 2hrs 40mins. So with some hardcore training and an allowance of 20 minutes, I am going to make my target time 3 hours… or as close to 3 hours as possible!
3 hours… I know that is optimistic for my first marathon! I reserve the right to modify it as my training progresses! As a reference, Paula Radcliffe runs the marathon in around 2hrs 15mins and a time of 3hrs would have placed me within the first 1,250 finishers last year.
I better start training!
