There are two ways to register for the London Marathon; you can apply directly to the marathon organisers or you can apply through a charity. If you apply directly you must win a ballot to get a spot… this is very completive and you have missed the deadline for 2006 anyway! If you want a guaranteed spot then register through a charity… there are hundreds of charities that you can chose from but be aware that you will need to raise a minimum amount of money to get the position.
I got my spot through a charity – The David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. This is a charity that I have been involved with since an early age. They aim to conserve critically endangered species around the world. I have pledged to raise £1,000 for them… hopefully, with the help of this blog, I will raise a lot more.
If you are looking for a charity to run for, I recommend buying a running magazine from your news agent. You will find many charities advertising available running places.
